The problem that came along with travelling with Damian for extended periods of time was that Kain had a tendency to drop his defenses - but only towards him. Damian always stood in his blind spot when it was just the two of them, so getting one-up on him? Easy.
Kain stumbled through the light with fluency but it came with his heart forgetting to beat and his lungs threatening to pop his eyes out from the pressure of fear. When he notes he isn't disintegrated or anything of the sort, he simply looks back at Damian with a face that said, I actually don't know what fucking expression to make right now.
