The bed beneath him had never been this comfortable. At best, he remembered a vague feeling of his head resting on a lap, perhaps in another life, another distant time...
But as he opened his eyes, vision blurred and head feeling weighed by something akin to alcohol or maybe just waking up to a Savage on his head again (don't ask), he let go of what he knew no longer was. His previous life didn't matter to him, Kain thought impatiently, wanting the fever dream to rush away so he could fall back to sleep. He failed to notice the humming of the room, how sensitive the clothing on his skin felt - how light it carried itself along his limbs.
Warm bed, his mind added. Literally all that matters.

Date: 2015-01-14 04:07 am (UTC)He'd left the bed behind, Kain in it, almost immediately, and hasn't been back in the three hours since. There are a thousand things to acquaint himself with (those doors are fascinating, what magic is that?), and things only get better when he discovers a little handheld... something. He doesn't have a name to put to it, although it doesn't take him long to figure out how to work it. It's a fount of information, after that. He pours over everything it will show him, and spends a good two of those three hours seated in the sill of the window, scrolling through endless information.
By the time he makes it back to the bed again, he knows quite a bit about this place. Not everything, not by a long shot, but a bit. There's still an unfortunate, gaping lack that's bothering him, although for a moment he pushes it aisde.
"Kain." He's leaned over the bed to shake his shoulder, eyes bright and expectant. "Kain. Haven't you slept enough yet?"

Date: 2015-01-14 03:01 pm (UTC)"Not if you're here..." he muttered, though of course he didn't really mean it. Sort of. He draped his arm over his eyes and sighed. "What, Damian?" LIKE A CHILD HOUNDING HIS PARENT.

Date: 2015-01-14 04:31 pm (UTC)Blue eyes bolted left, right, then landed on Damian with an accusatory stare. What did you do, they said.
i keep trying to pick an icon and getting confused
Date: 2015-01-14 04:55 pm (UTC)"We're in a new city," he says lightly, like it's just no big deal. "Which sounds like just the beginning, actually. I've had some time to look around." His smile grows. "You should look around a little, too. You'd like it."
IT'S A NIGHTMARE. Also I truly have forgotten so much about Kain?? Sorry if he's crazy different
Date: 2015-01-14 05:09 pm (UTC)Faith limited, however, he peeled the blankets from his legs and stood up, wriggling his toes against the floor and letting the new atmosphere soak in. Unbelievable.
"My weapons," he spoke simply, looking around to locate them. They didn't get far, but the uncertainty of the situation made him feel vulnerable without them equipped. He walked to do just that, not looking at Damian as he worked.
"How the Hell did we get here?" He looked toward the window, hairs standing on end to the point it prickled at his skin. "This doesn't look like any place I've heard of before."
oh god don't even worry about it, i'm groping through the darkness too
Date: 2015-01-14 05:22 pm (UTC)"Mm. I'm not sure." He hates admitting that, and it's clear in the dimming in his face to anyone that knows what to look for. He stays seated on the bed, thoughtful, attention drifted away from Kain again. "I've learned a lot about this place, but... not that. Not yet."
oh good
Date: 2015-01-14 05:43 pm (UTC)He turned with at least his basic daggers set to his belts, not wanting to stand out too strongly in the foreign town. Kain looked around the room, at the door, then to the wall. There was a timer on the wall, blinking, changing...
No, it was a clock? It seemed to correspond with the darkness of the sky that it was later in the day. Kain wasn't about to touch it. Damian probably already had so forget it.
"Guessing you've investigated; anything to worry about?" As he asked, his eyes locked on him. Ah, yes. Protection mode. As if just mentioning the idea of a potential threat was going to get them both attacked.

Date: 2015-01-14 06:25 pm (UTC)"Oh, though--" A quick glance back over his shoulder. "You probably shouldn't show off here, when we head outside." When, not if. Of course. "It sounds like they don't like it."
Which is going to be a little annoying, and possibly difficult to keep in mind. He's always been fond of idly casted spells while he's thinking.

Date: 2015-01-14 07:48 pm (UTC)The knives were concealed and all that was seen was some weird cape for his ass. The blades were kept to the back. What Damian's warning of the unknown couldn't snatch from him, however, was the skills that came with using them.
"If we have to," Kain complained, though he was inclined to agree. Sitting in this new complex wasn't going to get them anywhere. "I know I'm wasting my breath but try to keep your head down - " and to emphasize, palm on Damian's head and down. "Got it?"

Date: 2015-01-14 08:28 pm (UTC)"If I keep my head down, how am I going to see anything?" Like it's just an amusing joke on Kain's part, he couldn't possibly be serious. He even laughs a little, pushing out from under that hand to finish his walk to the window. "Look at this! Look how tall those buildings are. It's even better than Prontera."

Date: 2015-01-14 09:59 pm (UTC)Well... That being said - or thought, whatever...
Kain turned toward what he assumed to be the door, glowing a gentle blue to let them know they were allowed through. Despite that, he paused, cautious about the brick of light between them and the exit.
His fingertips were tentative in their outstretch to make contact, but in the end, he didn't take the risk. He looked toward Damian because he probably knew what to do with it.

Date: 2015-01-15 12:24 am (UTC)So that means it's Kain's turn.
He gives him a shove, still smiling. Nothing like diving right into the unknown, right?
FANCY FUCKIN ICONS YAS
Date: 2015-01-17 04:01 am (UTC)Kain stumbled through the light with fluency but it came with his heart forgetting to beat and his lungs threatening to pop his eyes out from the pressure of fear. When he notes he isn't disintegrated or anything of the sort, he simply looks back at Damian with a face that said, I actually don't know what fucking expression to make right now.
gross, now i have to pick icons
Date: 2015-01-18 08:28 am (UTC)"Blue means it's accessible," he says brightly, stepping through after him. "But I wouldn't recommend trying that on any red or yellow doors you see."
And with his little lesson given, he starts forward, headed for... for what he hopes will be an elevator. He'd watched a few clips explaining elevators, though, and what else could that wide, blue-lit door be at the end of the hallway they're in? Either way, he expects Kain to follow.
I have the easiest job in the world in this case
Date: 2015-01-19 02:22 am (UTC)He lined himself up to at least his side, exhaling sharply from his nose as he walked toward the light. He frowned a little as a swelling of heat came into his chest. Was he hungry? How long had he been sleeping? Never one to show weakness (despite earlier's fluke), he leaves it to hurt and heaves out an extra sigh to alleviate some of the pressure.

Date: 2015-01-19 05:27 am (UTC)The light approaches, and right on cue, Damian considers his next train of thought up for vocal consideration: "You know, it looks like they have really interesting food here. I hardly saw anything that looked familiar. Do you want to try pancakes?"

Date: 2015-01-20 03:08 pm (UTC)"I wonder how long it's been?" Kain pressed his hand to his stomach.
DEM TIGHT ABS"I feel like I haven't eaten in weeks." He was kind of cranky for it.
