The bed beneath him had never been this comfortable. At best, he remembered a vague feeling of his head resting on a lap, perhaps in another life, another distant time...

But as he opened his eyes, vision blurred and head feeling weighed by something akin to alcohol or maybe just waking up to a Savage on his head again (don't ask), he let go of what he knew no longer was. His previous life didn't matter to him, Kain thought impatiently, wanting the fever dream to rush away so he could fall back to sleep. He failed to notice the humming of the room, how sensitive the clothing on his skin felt - how light it carried itself along his limbs.

Warm bed, his mind added. Literally all that matters.

He didn't give much thought to waking up next to someone. And why should he, when it was so quickly apparent that there were new things afoot? Things Damian had never seen before, let alone examined.

He'd left the bed behind, Kain in it, almost immediately, and hasn't been back in the three hours since. There are a thousand things to acquaint himself with (those doors are fascinating, what magic is that?), and things only get better when he discovers a little handheld... something. He doesn't have a name to put to it, although it doesn't take him long to figure out how to work it. It's a fount of information, after that. He pours over everything it will show him, and spends a good two of those three hours seated in the sill of the window, scrolling through endless information.

By the time he makes it back to the bed again, he knows quite a bit about this place. Not everything, not by a long shot, but a bit. There's still an unfortunate, gaping lack that's bothering him, although for a moment he pushes it aisde.

"Kain." He's leaned over the bed to shake his shoulder, eyes bright and expectant. "Kain. Haven't you slept enough yet?"

Well, that worked in some sense of the word. Kain is, at least, conscious. He smiles, content, and decides not to use any of his water spells this morning.

"Wake up," he repeats, and then adds, slightly more helpfully, "Look around. Notice anything different?"

There he goes, noticing. Finally. Damian begins to ease into one of those smiles -- the ones that are just a little too pleased for their own good and, generally speaking, don't bode well.

"We're in a new city," he says lightly, like it's just no big deal. "Which sounds like just the beginning, actually. I've had some time to look around." His smile grows. "You should look around a little, too. You'd like it."

There's a flicker in that smile. There it is, that gap in his knowledge.

"Mm. I'm not sure." He hates admitting that, and it's clear in the dimming in his face to anyone that knows what to look for. He stays seated on the bed, thoughtful, attention drifted away from Kain again. "I've learned a lot about this place, but... not that. Not yet."

"Not really." Isn't that the answer he gives every time, though? Sometimes it's true, but there's really no counting on his opinion. He finally stands, brushing out his clothes, and heads toward the window.

"Oh, though--" A quick glance back over his shoulder. "You probably shouldn't show off here, when we head outside." When, not if. Of course. "It sounds like they don't like it."

Which is going to be a little annoying, and possibly difficult to keep in mind. He's always been fond of idly casted spells while he's thinking.

He'd caught sight of one more of a hundred fascinating things out the window, and that's what he's just starting to crane his neck to see when Kain's hand interrupts that business. He angles his head, the better to aim a growing grin up at him.

"If I keep my head down, how am I going to see anything?" Like it's just an amusing joke on Kain's part, he couldn't possibly be serious. He even laughs a little, pushing out from under that hand to finish his walk to the window. "Look at this! Look how tall those buildings are. It's even better than Prontera."

He doesn't stay at the window for long. He's had plenty of time to enjoy this sight already, and now it's time for the next step: seeing it a little closer. He strides after Kain to the door, and stops just behind him to grin. He's already tried this trick out, naturally, and that coupled with his research means he understands the meaning of the lights.

So that means it's Kain's turn.

He gives him a shove, still smiling. Nothing like diving right into the unknown, right?

Damian looks a little delighted about this. It's good, of course, that Kain hadn't smacked into solid wall, or fried, or anything like that, although Damian had been reasonably certain none of that would happen. He's mostly pleased for the chance to surprise an assassin cross. Those don't really come along that often.

"Blue means it's accessible," he says brightly, stepping through after him. "But I wouldn't recommend trying that on any red or yellow doors you see."

And with his little lesson given, he starts forward, headed for... for what he hopes will be an elevator. He'd watched a few clips explaining elevators, though, and what else could that wide, blue-lit door be at the end of the hallway they're in? Either way, he expects Kain to follow.

He's caught up short, and heaves a little sigh for it, but doesn't otherwise object. Caution is so time consuming, jeez. But he falls into step with Kain without complaint, at least.

The light approaches, and right on cue, Damian considers his next train of thought up for vocal consideration: "You know, it looks like they have really interesting food here. I hardly saw anything that looked familiar. Do you want to try pancakes?"
